We are multi-generational farmers who grow fresh flowers in London, On

Sustainably grown. Consciously wrapped. Locally delivered.

Hard Scrabble Blooms began in 2020 with the goal of bringing local flowers to our community, sharing the process behind floriculture production and how we strive to reduce it’s environmental footprint.

We are Andrea and Ben, flower farmers in London, On and the proud owners of Hard Scrabble Blooms.

Alongside our family we grow speciality cut flowers for sale direct to florists and local customers.

Being able to share our passion for local products has allowed us the opportunity to connect with other local businesses, our community and our neighbours.

Our values

  • We pour our heart into growing these flowers. We believe flowers are happiness - their vibrant colours, sweet fragrance, and delicate petals of flowers easily bring joy and peace to a room.

  • We strive to decrease the carbon footprint of the floral industry by reducing the use of single use plastics - we package all our products reusable or recycled packaging.

  • We are working to drive the local economy locally and keeping the dollars where they started from.

Whether are we delivering flowers to your doorstep or to a local florist as she designers for a wedding - all the flowers we offer are grown by us.

  • There’s no need to sugar coat what we do.

We grow the flowers, we cut the flowers, we deliver the flowers.

No middle man, no excessive packaging. Just pure happiness from our fields to your home.

Andrea

Growing up Andrea was surrounded by grandparents who adored their gardens and flowers. Her Oma’s gladiolus lining the barn was always a favourite view.

When it was time to pick a career she went with healthcare and has worked in that field for nearly 20 years in London, ON. Growing flowers came to life as a way to fill her own cup and connect with the earth.

The satisfaction of growing a tiny seed into a lavish plant then harvesting it to fill a local bride’s bouquet closes that circle of complete satisfaction.

Ben

As a multi generational farmer Ben has always been at home in a field.

With an inherent love for agriculture he went on to study horticulture. After college he was pulled away from the farm to find a job out in the world. Fast forward a few years the pull to be farming trumped all.

Flower farming is his outlet to nurture plants and enjoy challenges that present themselves everyday - besides flowers he is never far from a combine or planter as he farms corn or beans with his father and grandfather.
